Currently Reserved Race Numbers |
Written by Eric G.
In order to facilitate registration and event processes, the Colorado Rally Cross Organization would like all of its competitors to use the same number throughout the entire season. Many of our competitors use the same number for the duration of their time as a club member. Any number that has been used for two or more events by you as a registered driver is then considered to be your number. Currently, once a number is used in any one class, it is then not available for use in another class. All numbers currently in use are listed below with their respective driver. Please talk to Eric Genack with any questions.

Tech Inspection Checklist |
Written by Jerry S.
All competition vehicles are required to pass a technical inspection prior to competing. The purpose of tech inspection is to ensure your car meets basic safety requirements. Please note—passing tech does NOT mean your car complies with the rules for your particular car class.
Here’s your guide for getting through tech inspection quickly and cleanly. The complete technical requirements are described in the SCCA RallyCross rules, but this checklist will give you an overview of what our tech inspectors are looking for and common problems they encounter when inspecting cars. It is very important to have all of these issues taken care of and your car ready for inspection as soon as possible when you arrive at an event. Tech problems and re-inspections cause delays for other drivers waiting for tech and could potentially postpone the start of the event—a very bad result! Also our volunteer tech inspectors like to finish tech on time so they can walk the course like the rest of us. If you take time to make sure your vehicle meets the requirements listed below before you arrive at the event, you’ll pass through tech with flying colors and be ready for some seriously fun rallycross action.

A First-Timer’s Guide to a Colorado RallyCross Day |
Written by Jerry S.
New to RallyCross? Here’s an overview of what to expect on a typical race day. Let’s start with a few words of advice. First, don’t worry about the type of car you drive. We see all types of cars at our events, from old-school VW Bugs to rental cars to highly-modified Subaru and Mitsubishi rally cars and everything in between. If your car will pass technical inspection, bring it! You’ll have fun regardless of the car you’re driving. Second, don’t be intimidated if this is your first rallycross. Heck, every experienced rallycross competitor was once a novice like you. Third, don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek advice. Under all that dust, rallycross folks are just like normal people. Well almost. You’ll quickly find them to be friendly and very willing to help you out if you have any questions. Fourth, don’t worry about going fast. Focus on car control and staying on course. Speed will come with experience. Your goal should be to beat the time of your previous run.
Let’s assume you spent some quality time on the website reading the rallycross rules, you selected a race date on the schedule, and you completed your online registration. Now what? The following information will help you prepare for your first rallycross and ensure that you have a great time.

2012 SCCA RallyCross Rules |
Written by Keith L.
Events are run under the SCCA RallyCross Rules. Here is an overview of key RallyCross rules. Click on the 2012 SCCA RallyCross Rules link below for the complete rules.
DRIVERS – Must possess a valid driver’s license (not a learner’s permit or restricted license). One passenger age 12 and over is allowed in the front seat.
SAFETY – Vehicle must pass a safety inspection before each event. Helmets (Snell rating of SA95, M95, K98 or newer) and seat belts are required. Loaner helmets are available. Roll cages are NOT required but are recommended. No alcoholic beverages during the event.
COURSE – The course is typically set up on a gravel parking lot or dirt surface. Course markers (orange cones) are used to mark turns. No jumps, deep ruts, large holes or other dangerous features are allowed, although the course surface typically changes during the event. Speeds are limited to reasonable and prudent for the course conditions and, for the fastest cars, should not normally exceed 60 miles per hour on straights and 40 mph in turns.
